Skate with the original group skate in Detroit!

The original group skate in Detroit started at the Rivertown area in 1989. Over the years the group grew to over one hundred in the 90s, special interest factions developed and the home of the skate moved to Detroiter Bar at Fort and Beaubien. In recent years the group has gotten smaller and moved back to the Rivertown area.

In spite of continuous changes in the City of Detroit, the skating community and emerging suburban skate groups, the original downtown group remains true to their beginning concepts:

The group is not a club. It's just friends getting together twice a week to share a common interest - skating.

This is not a beginner skate.
You need to be able to skate and stop under control, skate at least 6 miles at a time without stopping and be able to negotiate obstacles, such as curbs, manhole covers, etc.

Here's the real beauty of skating in Detroit -
Someone once said, "No one else much uses the streets at night, so we might as well skate them."
It's great! Imagine skating for miles on wide, smooth pavement, with little or no traffic to interfere. There's nowhere else in the world like it!
